Posted on 10/10/202510/10/2025

In a recent podcast, PhD candidate Priscila Beni from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, talks about her personal experience of being autistic and her research on ‘Self-Knowledge of Autistic Traits’.

Priscila visited Leeds Beckett University for a month in 2025, as part of a CAPES scholarship. She joined the Autism Research Lab led by Dr Marc Fabri and contributed to an evaluation of the Autism&Uni toolkit. Her own research explores how a SWOT analysis tool can help autistic people with developing their self-advocacy. In this podcast, she is being interviewed by Dr Joanna Leah.

About “Thinking is Material”

In 2024, Dr Joanna Leah from Leeds Beckett University’s School of Arts received funding to support the development of her ‘thinking is material’ podcast series. This podcast explores how thinking itself manifests as a material process in approaches to research, especially for creative practitioners who often adapt their methods and use outside influences. As a mover and drawer, Joanna has always explored how thinking is materialised through research methods. The podcast aims to showcase researchers’ creative practice by capturing conversations on research methods to support debates on collaboration, diversity and inclusivity.
